Justin Heiferman is the founding attorney of Heiferman & Associates. Justin practices before federal and state courts. Justin has nearly 20 years' experience handling financial investigations and accounting, including working for noteworthy institutions such as JP Morgan Chase, BDO Seidman and Credit Suisse First Boston. As a former Assistant District Attorney with the Nassau County District Attorney Economic Crimes Bureau, Justin prosecuted and managed the investigations of numerous complex felonies including Identity Theft, Bank Fraud and various other larcenies and frauds.
After the DA's office, Justin practiced employment litigation at Jackson Lewis. As an employment attorney, Justin as argued in numerous state and federal courts as well as administrative agencies including the EEOC, NY Department of Labor, NY State Division of Human Rights and the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights.
As an immigration attorney, Justin's successes include litigating over 30 immigration trial and bond detention hearings and trials. Justin has assisted close to twenty children with obtaining Special Immigrant Juvenile Status ("SIJS") in New York State Family Court. Justin assisted over 100 individuals in obtaining asylum and/or lawful permanent residence (Green Cards) in the United States. Justin's successfully obtained O and EB-1 visas for a foreign film director whose music videos achieved over 200 million hits and won an MTV Video Music Award (VMA).
Justin is an active volunteer in the community. He provides Pro Bono Legal Assistance to the Safe Passage Project, an organization dedicated to assisting immigrant and refugee children facing deportation. He was awarded a service star for his contributions to the Children's Aid Society. Justin enjoys playing tennis. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his family. He is a dedicated husband and father. His wife, Karen, works at UNICEF Legal Department in the Office of the Executive Director, and his daughter Katrina, currently is a junior at CUNY Baruch, studying graphic communication and new media arts. Katrina also works part-time in the office.
Carter Qi is the managing attorney at Heiferman & Associates, PLLC. He practices immigration, criminal defense and employment law. Mr. Qi focuses on employment and investment-based immigration and is experienced in representing clients in removal proceedings and SIJS as well. He also serves as legal adviser to various U.S. and Chinese companies .
Mr. Qi received his J.D. degree in 2017 from Brooklyn Law School, his B.S. degree in 2011 from Baruch College of CUNY. He is licensed in the state of New York and admitted to practice law before the Executive Office of Immigration Review (Immigration Court) in all states of the United States.
Mr. Qi always has his client’s best interests at heart. He also has a strong sense of public service. During his last year of law school, Mr. Qi worked as a student attorney at his law school immigration clinic - Safe Harbor Project. Working with two other student attorneys, he represented a South American client, who was a survivor of multiple sexual assaults, in removal proceedings. Mr. Qi is also a volunteer lawyer at New York Legal Assistance Group (through New York State Volunteer Lawyer Programs). He provides limited representation for unrepresented consumer debtors in New York Civil Court and assists unrepresented uncontested divorce litigants in the Supreme Court of New York. Prior to his admittance to the bar, Carter worked as a paralegal for over 5 years.
Mr. Qi accompanied his mother, a Chinese diplomat, to many countries. He left footprints in Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Egypt, Peru and many more. With his dedicated work ethic, understanding of the law, cultural background and professionalism, Mr. Qi assists individuals and corporate clients all over the world.
As the founder of the Law Offices of Jacob Aronauer, Mr. Aronauer practices in all areas of workplace law, including overtime and pay disputes, employment discrimination, and sexual harassment litigation. Jacob served as an Assistant General Counsel for over four years in the Bloomberg Administration, at the Mayor’s Office of Labor Relations.
SUSAN HEIFERMAN - EDUCATION CONSULTANT
Dr. Susan Heiferman spent over 40 years working in education, in positions including Assistant Superintendent, Elementary School Principal and founder of a gifted and talented program. Dr. Heiferman received her doctorate in education from Columbia University. She is a distinguished professional who provides the firm with guidance and various other needs. Along with her husband, she enjoys golf, tennis, cooking as well as being recognized as top-notch parents and grandparents.
